PlatformQ Health is pleased to be able to share outcomes from a recent patient/caregiver program on clinical trials at the ASCO Quality Care Symposium in San Diego, CA this September. The poster session, titled Patient beliefs and behaviors concerning clinical trials for blood cancers: Outcomes from live online education will be held September 7, 2019 from 7:00-7:55AM and 11:30-1:00PM.
In April 2018, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) presented a free video education program for patients and caregivers to help explain how to join clinical trials and what to expect when participating on CancerCoachLive.com. Topics discussed included:
- The role of clinical trials for blood cancers
- When a clinical trial is a viable option
- Benefits of clinical trials
- Role of a patient and caregiver before, during and after the process
- LLS’s Clinical Trials Support Center (CTSC)
Findings, including participation metrics and learner demographics, outcomes methods, behavioral impact, and knowledge impact will be shared.
“We’re thrilled to deliver this important patient program for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Video education, especially with interactive live components, is well suited to help educate patients and caregivers about the benefits of becoming involved in clinical trials: this program can be accessed from anywhere, for free, and enables people to connect with some of the nations’ leading experts. We are happy to support The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society programming and help them track the impact of this education – together, we can increase participation and begin to include the patient perspective in clinical trial development.”
The poster’s abstract will be released in the ASCO library on September 3, 2019.
