PlatformQ is searching for an experienced Senior Java Engineer to join our team of brilliant developers working on our next generation online events platform using cutting edge web technologies. This opportunity allows for remote work for candidates anywhere in the US – or, join us in our Needham, MA office and collaborate with our engineering team in person.
This position is well suited to candidates with strong experience with Java, and for someone comfortable in both back and front-end development in a small team in a cloud infrastructure.
Required skills:
- Strong Java skills, ideally experience with Spring Boot and Hibernate
- Strong AWS experience, both developing for, deploying in, and managing AWS infrastructure
- Some experience with Terraform or some similar automated or continuous deployment process
- At least one SPA (single page application) framework: Vue (preferred), Angular, or React, or similar
- Expertise with core software development concepts such as object-oriented programming, dependency injection/IoC, distributed systems, etc
- Understanding of API design and implementation as well as data storage including ORM and non-relational databases
- 4+ Years of experience working with Java and AWS
Responsibilities as a Java Engineer include:
- Active contributor to regular team meetings, willing to provide your input and collaborate with other project members
- Investigate and recommend new technologies where relevant
- Enhance applications by identifying opportunities for improvement, and making recommendations, designing, and implementing those improvements
- Maintain and enhance existing codebases
- Strive to produce finished products that are performant, highly available, and accessible across mobile and desktop clients
- Assist the current ops team to ensure we have redundancy in AWS ops coverage, and contribute to automated software deployment pipeline development
